ABOUT THE EXCHANGE
Brighton Sister Cities is a collaborative cultural exchange program between the cities of Brighton Colorado and Ziebice Poland. Inaugurated in 1995 the program has given students, civic and business leaders, educators and individual representatives the opportunity to experience a cross cultural sharing of ideas, events, programs, and celebrations. Since it’s inception over 200 students and adults have participated in the sister cities exchange program. The exchange is based on an every year rotation alternating between Brighton visiting Ziebice and Ziebice visiting Brighton.
How do you determine who will be selected to go from Brighton? Children from past host families have priority to go, other interested students should fill out an application and the students and their parents will be interviewed, the selection will be made by a committee of Sister Cities members. Application deadline is January 30 each year.

HOW TO GET INVOLVED
The student exchange is the focus of the Brighton Sister Cities organization’s efforts. Each year for three weeks in June, eight students and their chaperones travel to their Sister City. Polish students travel to Brighton in odd years, and American students travel to Ziebice in even years.
In Poland, American students live with families and experience a typical small-town lifestyle. They also visit cathedrals, castles, the city of Krakow, Wieliczka Salt Mine, and the Auschwitz concentration camp.
In Brighton, daily activities planned by Brighton Sister Cities allow the students to enjoy the beauty and variety of the Colorado experience, visiting Denver, Colorado Springs, Estes Park, Elitch Gardens, and Coors Field, and other Colorado landmarks. Host families, the heart of the exchange, treat the students as family members, promoting understanding and creating warm friendships that can last a lifetime.
