About Brighton Sister Cities
The goal of Sister Cities International is to "promote peace through mutual respect, understanding, and cooperation - one individual, one community at a time." Brighton Sister Cities pursues that goal through collaborative cultural exchange with our Sister City of Ziebice, Poland.
Established in 1995, the organization has given students as well as adult civic and business leaders, educators, health care and agriculture experts, and many others the opportunity to participate in a sharing of ideas, events, programs and celebrations. Recently, we were pleased to celebrate this 20-year relationship which has created life-long friendships and cultivated the seeds of peace and prosperity.

The History of Ziebice, Poland
Ziebice is a 13th Century village with a population of 10,000. It is located in southwest Poland about 55 km south of Wroclaw and 20 km from the Czech border. The beautiful St. George Church (13th-14th Century), well-preserved defense walls, museum with a unique collection of household appliances, 19th Century park, towering ceramic eagle sculpture, Paczkow Gate, and 13th Century Cistercian monastery at nearby Henrykow captivate visitors to this beautiful town.
The History of Brighton
After the completion of the railroad into the area in 1871 the city was first then known as Hughes Station. Just ten years later the city of Brighton was born, founded by the late Daniel Carmichael. The city was named after the birthplace of his wife. The court officially recognized the City of Brighton in 1887. The city sits at an elevation of 5,013 feet just outside the capital city of Colorado, Denver. According to the US Census Bureau the city’s population reached an estimated population of 39,836 and has witnessed steady growth since.
