UNITED WITH UKRAINE
Ziebice, Poland is a city of 9,000 located in southwest Poland near the Czech border. Brighton, CO has had a Sister City relationship with them for 27 years. Ziebice is currently welcoming many Ukrainian refugees, about 200 at last count, consisting of women and children under 18. As a seat of regional government, Ziebice is also helping to support humanitarian aid in neighboring villages.
The people of Ziebice have shown selfless compassion, donating their time and special skills to prepare living spaces and provide for refugee needs. Other volunteers are providing transportation, enrolling kids in schools, teaching Polish language lessons, collecting food, clothing and other donations, preparing meals, doing laundry, and helping their guests to communicate with loved ones. They are providing beds, bedding, food, medicine, personal hygiene items, diapers and other essential items. They have also helped to purchase emergency medical equipment for a small town in Ukraine.
The City of Ziebice and the Janine Society, their Sister Cities organization, have set up a jointly administered bank account that is used at their discretion to help them meet the needs of the refugees. Donations collected by Brighton Sister Cities are wired directly to this account.
Our friends in Ziebice need help to meet the overwhelming needs of their neighbors. Your support can contribute to easing the suffering of these innocent victims. If you would like to donate, Brighton Sister Cities is organizing donations that will go directly to assist with refugee efforts in Ziebice. We have set up a Go Fund Me which can be accessed here
